The Importance of Treating an OverbiteWhile it is possible to leave an overbite untreated, there are many reasons that this is the wrong idea. There is a long list of things that an overbite can lead to when left untreated. It starts with the appearance. An overbite can affect the way you look and can affect your self-esteem. An overbite also affects the way that you bite and chew food. Some people with an overbite cannot enjoy all the foods they want.In addition to those things, an overbite can also damage your oral health. It can lead to gum disease and it can make it difficult to maintain good oral hygiene habits. It can cause excessive wear on the teeth and the enamel of the teeth. People with an overbite are prone to problems with sleep apnea and TMJ.
