Signs You Are Struggling with an Impacted Tooth

Posted on 2/20/2019 by Tricia Ramsay
Signs You Are Struggling with an Impacted ToothIn simplest terms, an impacted tooth is one that cannot come in all the way. Often it is a wisdom tooth. The tooth might not come in all the way because there is not enough room in your jaw, because your teeth are already too crowded, or because of the positions of your other teeth.

If you are wondering if you have an impacted tooth, here are the signs that you should look for.

Tooth and Jaw Pain

Tooth pain is something that always needs to be checked out immediately, because we want to know what is going on and also to figure out the best way to treat it. If you have constant pain in your mouth and jaw, especially towards the back, it could be an impacted tooth.

Pain in Your Gums

If you have an impacted tooth, it will affect your gums. If you have a lot of new pain in your gums, or if you discover that you have cysts, it could mean that you have a tooth that is impacted. Another sign of an impacted tooth is if your gums are swollen.

Headaches
Often the pain from an impacted tooth will spread, and you could end up with a headache. If you do not normally suffer from headaches and suddenly are having a problem with them, it could be because of one or more impacted teeth.

If you have any of these symptoms, or if you have any other type of mouth pain, the best thing that you can do is to make an appointment to see us right away. Do not let the fear of an impacted tooth diagnosis stop you from making that appointment. Remember, the sooner you come in to see us, the sooner you will start to feel better.
