Can Being Too Busy After Oral Surgery Slow Your Healing?

Oral Surgery Huronia Oral Surgery Group Ontario L4N 8J6After coming to see Huronia Oral Surgery Group for an oral surgery, it's important to rest and take proper care of your mouth. There are certain things you can and cannot do.

Your foods, activities, and overall lifestyle will need to be modified for a short amount of time while you heal.

Why Being Too Busy After Oral Surgery Will Slow Your Healing

Your primary focus after getting your wisdom teeth extracted, having new dental implants put in, or undergoing any other type of procedure on your teeth and gums is to ease the pain and avoid infection. Immediately after your appointment, you'll need to take it easy since the sedative will make you drowsy.

You shouldn't drive a car, participate in strenuous activities, or force yourself to concentrate on anything. If you go to sleep, keep your head properly elevated by adding extra pillows.

The rest won't end the next day. You need to listen to your body's need for rest. It's also important to make sure you only eat soft food so you don't remove the blood clot from your mouth or disturb the implant site in any way.

This means that your body won't be used to the diet you're on as you probably won't be meeting its nutritional needs. As such, you'll have less energy and a higher need to rest. You can't push yourself through this or you'll delay your healing, which is bad.

Being too busy after oral surgery can slow your healing. This is why it's so important to choose the right time for your surgery - a time when you can rest and properly care for your mouth afterwards.

Once you manage to find such a time in your calendar go ahead and give Huronia Oral Surgery Group a call at 705-302-0357. We look forward to scheduling your oral surgery at a time that's conducive to your healing.
